This is a 33 year old Laphroaig, bottled at 43.8% ABV as a limited edition. It is the first volume in the Strong Characters Series, which tells the stories of the people who shaped the distillery.
The whisky was matured in hogsheads of European oak that had held ex-Bourbon and sherry seasoned wood. Volume 1 is about Donald Johnston, the older of the two brothers who founded Laphroaig in 1815. Illustrations by the British artist Bill Bragg decorate the packaging and the accompanying booklet.
