The fourth volume in Laphroaig's Ian Hunter Story series, this is a 34-year-old Islay single malt distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2021. It was matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in first-fill European oak ex-oloroso sherry casks. The limited edition honours Ian Hunter, celebrating his establishing of the malting floors and his legacy as Malt Master, and it is presented inside a book.
The nose offers dried fruit, soft smoke, tobacco leaf, eucalyptus, heather honey, black pepper and cinder toffee. The palate brings barbecued pork, honey, peach, orange blossom, iodine and earthy peat, with ashy wood smoke lingering into the finish.
