Laphroaig 34 Year Old Enduring Spirit is an Islay single malt bottled at 45.5% ABV. It is Book 5 of The Ian Hunter Story, the five-part series that honours Ian Hunter, a custodian who shaped Laphroaig's modern identity in the mid-20th century. This release concludes the series.
The whisky was first matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks, then moved into European oak casks for a long secondary maturation.
The nose combines softened peat smoke, sea spray, antique leather and iodine with dried citrus peel, beeswax and polished oak. The palate brings smouldering peat, honeyed malt, gentle medicinal notes, vanilla cream, dried stone fruit and clove.
