This is a 34-year-old Laphroaig from Islay, the fifth and final release in the Ian Hunter series. The series honours Ian Hunter, the last member of the Johnston family to own and run the distillery. The whisky matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon American oak casks and former Pedro Ximénez hogsheads of European oak. It was bottled on 22 August 2022 at 45.5% ABV, as a limited release. The nose is lightly peaty, with iodine, charred wood, floral green malt, candy floss, vanilla toffee and touches of blueberry and raspberry. The palate is sweet and spicy, with cold barbecue ash, salted caramel, roasted chestnuts and white pepper. The finish is peaty and malty, with lingering sweetness.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
