Laphroaig – Elements L2.0 (70cl, 59.6%)

Laphroaig Elements L2.0 is a limited-edition Islay single malt and the second release in the distillery's Elements series. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at a cask strength of 59.6% ABV. The mash was fermented for 115 hours, using a mix of cloudy and clear worts, and the spirit was double-distilled in copper pot stills before maturing in heavily charred first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The colour is pale gold. The nose offers green apple, pear and orange zest with coastal brine, medicinal peat smoke and gentle honey. On the palate, white pepper gives way to campfire ash, vanilla, malted barley, pineapple and lime. The finish is very long and drying, with antiseptic peat smoke, sea salt and light oak spice.
