Laphroaig Lore is a peated Islay single malt made under Distillery Manager John Campbell as a tribute to the generations of Laphroaig makers.
It is a marriage of whiskies from five cask types: quarter casks, bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts, European oak hogsheads and first-fill bourbon barrels. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is smoky, with seaside minerals, vanilla, burning heather and pine resin. On the palate, peat smoke and chilli heat give way to vanilla, cinnamon and a floral note. The finish is long and dry, with ash, bitter chocolate and a maritime edge.
