Laphroaig – Oak Select Cask Collection Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 40%)

This is Laphroaig Oak Select Cask Collection, an Islay single malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It draws on whiskies matured in Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximenez hogsheads, ex-bourbon barrels and quarter casks, then finished in virgin American oak. The result keeps the iodine, sea spray and briny peat of the distillery, with ripe fruit, spice and vanilla alongside. The nose has smoke with ripe red fruit, citrus, honey and a trace of vanilla. The palate starts soft and sweet before peat smoke, ash and seaweed arrive. The finish is long, with marzipan, lime, a floral edge and coastal smoke.
