Laphroaig Oak Select is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, put together from five specially selected casks: Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximenez seasoned hogsheads and first-fill bourbon quarter casks, along with new American oak.
The heart of the whisky comes from a final maturation in new American oak, a rarity in Scotch whisky that adds a bolder flavour. The last addition is Laphroaig 10, aged for a decade.
The taste is smoky peat and spicy oak with a surprising sweetness.
