Laphroaig – Select (70cl, 40%)

Laphroaig Select is a peated Islay single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is a more approachable take on the distillery's peated style, balancing its medicinal smokiness with a softer profile. The barley is dried with Islay peat and the whisky is double distilled in copper pot stills. It is matured in a selection of casks including first-fill bourbon barrels, quarter casks, Oloroso sherry casks and European oak, then blended. The nose is gentle peat smoke, sea spray and floral notes, with vanilla and dried fruit. The palate shows iodine and seaweed with sweet malt, spice and oak. The finish is medium to long, with lingering smoke, sea salt and dry oak.
