Laphroaig The Cask Lore is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. It belongs to the permanent core range.
The whisky marries malts aged from seven to 21 years from the distillery's Atlantic Storehouse, drawn from ex-bourbon casks, European oak, oloroso sherry casks and quarter casks. Laphroaig was founded in 1815 by Alexander and Donald Johnston.
Peat smoke and sea minerality lead the nose, with a little ash and chocolate. The palate brings dark chocolate, ash and spicy chilli, and the finish is short and dry with a lingering sweet aftertaste.
