This is Linkwood 17 Year Old, a Speyside single malt distilled in 2006 and bottled by the SMWS in 2024 at 58.2% ABV from a single first fill oloroso cask, no. 39.289. Only 297 bottles were filled, all for Australia. It was selected as the third release from Whisky & Alement, a Society partner bar in Melbourne, and marks the arrival of Matt Bailey as European Managing Director. The whisky spent 13 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead before moving into a first fill Spanish oak oloroso hogshead. The nose offers nutmeg, toasted almonds, molasses and orange, walnut and Victoria sponge cakes. The palate is savoury and sweet, with maple-mustard pulled pork and crispy bacon.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
