Lochside – 1981/2023 Private Collection Cask #804 Gordon & MacPhail (70cl, 46.7%)

This is a single cask Highland malt from Lochside, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Private Collection. The distillery closed in 1992. The whisky was distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2023 after around 41 years in cask, at 46.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It comes from cask 804. Tasting notes describe ripe yellow fruit, honey and vanilla on the nose, with herbs, nuts and light oak. The palate is creamy, with ripe fruit, caramel, spice and a dry, elegant wood structure. The finish is long and harmonious, with fruit, gentle spice and aged oak.
