This is an 18-year-old Longrow, the heavily peated single malt from the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. It was bottled on 6 September 2021 at 46% ABV, without chill filtration and without added colouring.
The whisky was matured in three types of cask: 60% sherry, 30% bourbon and 10% chardonnay. The malt is floor-malted on site and dried over peat smoke for 48 hours, and the spirit is distilled twice.
The nose offers sea air, brine and fishing baskets, then wild berries and dried fruit. Honeycomb, butterscotch, vanilla and smouldering peat show on the palate. The long finish brings campfire, old leather and a maritime note.
