This is the 21-year-old Longrow, the heavily peated malt made at the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. It is an annual release, bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration and without added colouring.
The whisky was matured in a combination of 65% sherry casks and 35% bourbon casks. Longrow is made with fully peat-dried malt and distilled twice.
The nose brings sweet peat smoke, salty sea air, hazelnut and blackcurrant. On the palate it is sweet and smoky, with sour cola bottles, cigar boxes and a coastal saltiness. The long finish has pebble beach, flint and seaweed, with wood smoke and a light minerality.
