Lough Ree Ballykilcavan No. 2 Single Malt 6 Year Old (43%)

Lough Ree Ballykilcavan No. 2 is a six year old double distilled single malt from Great Northern Distillery, bottled at 43% in a limited edition. It spent 5 years and 11 months in a first-fill Bourbon cask, then three months in a second-fill ex-Laphroaig cask. That cask had previously held Ballykilcavan's Bambrick's Brown Ale Islay Cask limited edition. The nose brings milk chocolate, malt loaf and juicy barmbrack raisins. The palate is sweet and fruity with dark chilli chocolate, an earthy peaty kick and a savoury note like mild blue cheese. The finish is long, earthy and spicy.
