Lough Ree Bart's Blended Irish Whiskey (70cl, 46%)

A blended Irish whiskey from Lough Ree Distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle without chill-filtration or added colour. It was the distillery's first blend, and the whiskeys in it were distilled at Great Northern Distillery. Five whiskeys go into the blend: grain, pot still and peated malt, plus two malts finished in rye and Oloroso casks. The name honours Bart Clancy, father of the three siblings who founded the distillery. His love of repairing clocks inspired the idea of whiskeys working together like the parts of a movement. The nose offers toasted orange peel, toasted marshmallow, kiwi, pear and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate come red fruits, dry spice, clove sweets and crème brûlée crust. The finish is long, spicy and oily, turning drier with a trace of smoke.
