Macallan – 12 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask 110 Proof (70cl, 55%)

This Macallan single malt is 12 years old and was matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks. It is bottled at 110 proof (55%), a higher strength than the usual bottling. The colour is a deep amber. The nose has sticky dates, cherry compote and cinnamon, followed by cacao nibs and dried orange. On the palate come rich oak, sultanas, stem ginger, star anise and mandarin, then dark chocolate and roasted espresso. The finish is long and warming, with treacle toffee, mocha and sweet cinnamon.
