Macallan – 18 Year Old Sherry Oak (70cl, 43%)

This is an 18 year old Macallan Highland single malt, bottled at 43% vol. in a 70cl bottle. It matured solely in selected sherry casks from Jerez in Spain, which give it a dark colour, a complex aroma and a rich, heavy flavour. Macallan was founded in 1824 and was among the first legal distilleries in Scotland. It stands on the banks of the Spey near Craigellachie, and Roderick Kemp took it over in 1882. The colour is rich gold. The nose is complex with a hint of vanilla. The palate is smooth, with balanced fruit, oak and spice. The finish is long, with sweet dried fruit, oak and spice.
