Macallan – Red Collection 50 Year Old (70cl)

Macallan Red Collection 50 Year Old is a single malt in a 70cl bottle, from a limited-edition series celebrating the history and craftsmanship of the distillery. The name refers to the colour red in Macallan's story. Alexander Reid, who founded the distillery in 1824, bore a surname meaning 'the red one' in Scots, and in 1903 owner Roderick Kemp introduced the Macallan Choice Old range in cases with a red print, set apart from the black ink used before. The nose combines oak and leather with delicate floral notes. The palate shows dried fruits and wood spices, moving to dates and dark chocolate, with orange oil zest and sultanas.
