This is a 50 year old Speyside single malt from The Macallan, bottled at 45.1% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It matured entirely in sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez in Spain. The colour is natural, coming only from the spirit's time in wood, with nothing added.
The nose opens with old oak and soft leather, then light florals, cocoa, black cherry and a little ginger. On the palate come dried fruits and wood spices, followed by dates, dark chocolate, orange oil and sultanas. The finish is long, with raisins, dates and crème brûlée.
