Macduff – 2011

This is a 2011 Macduff single malt from Scotland, deep gold in colour. The nose is polished, with buffed leather, lamp oil and sacking over a damp earthiness, then sherry aromas of sultana and gingerbread and a warming spiciness. Water pushes it towards green fruit: apple, kiwi and sharp gooseberry. The palate is sticky and sweet, with dark fruit jams, blueberry muffin mix, date molasses, raisins, stem ginger, caramelised oats and digestive biscuit. The finish is medium in length, warming and peppery.
