MacNair's Lum Reek 12 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

A 12 year old blended malt first released in 2018, made in small batches from peated and unpeated malts from Islay and Speyside. It was created by Master Distiller Billy Walker and matured at The GlenAllachie distillery in first-fill ex-bourbon, Pedro Ximenez sherry and red wine casks. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The name comes from the Scottish toast 'lang may yer lum reek', meaning long may your chimney smoke. It was inspired by the brand's creator, the Glaswegian blender Harvey MacNair, who founded his company in 1937. Sweet peat reek, butterscotch, mocha and gentle nutmeg lead the nose. The palate has heather honey, rich toffee and sweet spices over peat, and the finish is long and warming with lingering peat.
