Maker's Mark 46 is a bourbon in a 70cl bottle, made by finishing Maker's Mark with French oak staves. It is aged in the same way as Maker's Mark for six years, then emptied and returned to the barrel together with the staves.
The staves are heavily toasted rather than charred. This treatment is called Profile 46, which is where the name comes from. The aim was to create a distinct product without disrupting the existing Maker's Mark stock.
