Maker's Mark Cask Strength is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, made at Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky, and sold here in a 1 litre bottle. The mash bill is corn, soft red winter wheat and malted barley. It is bottled uncut and non-chill-filtered, straight from the barrel.
Strength varies from batch to batch, typically between 108 and 114 proof, and each bottle carries its batch number. This one is Batch 20-01, at 110.1 proof (55.05% ABV).
The nose combines butterscotch, caramel, vanilla bean, baking spice, toasted oak and ripe apricot. The palate is full bodied and rich, with caramel fudge, red fruit, cinnamon, clove and charred oak. The finish is long and gently spicy, with vanilla cream and nutmeg.
