Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series RC6 was released in 2019 as the first limited edition of the series. Fully matured Maker's Mark is finished in a secondary barrel fitted with 10 custom staves of virgin American oak, seasoned outdoors and toasted rather than charred. The bourbon is wheated, made in Loretto, Kentucky from corn, soft red winter wheat and malted barley. It is bottled at cask strength, 108.2 proof (54.1%), and dipped in red wax.
The nose offers caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, baked stone fruit and baking spice. On the palate come caramel, dark fruit, brown sugar and vanilla over cinnamon and gentle oak. The finish is long and warming, with toasted oak, spice and lingering sweetness.
