Marca Negra Ensamble is an artisanal mezcal from La Noria, Ejutla, in Oaxaca, made by maestro mezcalero Basilio Pacheco. It is bottled at 49% vol in a 70cl bottle.
It blends three agaves, Angustifolia, Karwinskii and Rhodacantha, each aged 9 to 12 years before harvest. The agave is milled with a stone tahona wheel and distilled in a plate system.
The nose is mineral, with spring water, river stones, grapefruit juice, fennel and anise. The palate is herbal and fruity, with ripe banana, coconut, medlar and Mexican hawthorn, and hints of cocoa and peanut. The finish is soft and lingering, with a gentle earthy sweetness and nutty notes.
