Meikle Toir 5 Year Old is 'The Original', the first expression in Billy Walker's peated single malt brand. It is distilled at The GlenAllachie Distillery in Aberlour, Speyside, and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and with natural colour.
The spirit is made with St. Fergus mainland peat at around 35 parts per million and a 160-hour fermentation. It is matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, American virgin oak and rye barrels.
The distillery's notes describe baking spices, burnt honey, espresso, hazelnuts, smoked almonds and butterscotch on the nose, and sweet peat, rich chocolate, heather honey, cinnamon, ginger and oak-smoked sugar on the palate.
