Meiyo 15 Year Old is a Japanese pure malt, a blend of malt whiskies aged for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made in Okinawa by Kumesen Syuzo, an awamori distiller founded in 1952 that began maturing spirit in oak around 1989.
Meiyo means honour, one of the seven virtues of Bushido, which gives the Bushido Series its name. The whisky has little to no peat.
The nose is lightly floral. The palate layers florals with sarsaparilla, grapefruit and lemon peel, plus a hint of smoke, and tropical fruit with pineapple is also noted. The finish is long and drying.
