Rei Pure Malt is a Japanese malt whisky from Okinawa, made by Kumesen Syuzo. The company was founded in 1952 as an awamori distiller and began maturing spirit in oak barrels around 1989. This one carries no age statement and is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Rei means respect, the third of the samurai's seven virtues, and it gives the Bushido Series its theme. The whisky won a Platinum Medal at the 2020 SIP Awards. The nose shows subtle peat, the palate plenty of pineapple, and the mouthfeel is smooth and lingering.
