Metté Eau de Vie de Noisette (50cl)

A hazelnut eau-de-vie from the Metté distillery in Ribeauvillé, Alsace, run by Nathalie and Philippe Traber. It comes in a 50cl bottle. Selected hazelnuts are macerated, then distilled in copper stills. The spirit is rested in stainless steel tanks rather than wood, which keeps the fruit pure. The nose is freshly roasted hazelnut with dried fruit, butter and a light woody touch. The palate is supple and frank, with hazelnut building gradually and good length without heaviness. The finish is long and refined, with notes of toasted hazelnut. Serve it neat at 12 to 15°C in a tulip glass.
