Metté Marc de Muscat (50cl)

A marc from the Distillerie Metté in Ribeauvillé, Alsace, run by Nathalie and Philippe Traber. It is made from the pomace of carefully selected Muscat grapes, left after vinification. The pomace is distilled slowly in copper stills in the house's traditional way, then aged. The nose is expressive, with fresh grape, white flowers and Muscat, plus dried fruit and soft spice. The attack is frank and elegant, with power and a supple feel, and fruity, floral, lightly spiced Muscat flavours. The finish is long, warming and harmonious. It is best served neat at 14 to 16°C in a tulip glass, as a digestif, or alongside aged cheeses and foie gras.
