Michter's Small Batch Unblended American Whiskey is a rye in a 70cl bottle, matured in second-fill whiskey barrels. The brand traces its history back to 1753. The barrels are air-dried for three years and toasted before being charred, and the warehouses use heat cycling to encourage maturation through the winter. The nose offers vanilla, marshmallow and woody notes. On the palate come vanilla, custard, oak and caramel, and the finish is spicy and warm, with a dusty oak sweetness.
