Micil Earls Island is an Irish single pot still whiskey, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The components were distilled at the Great Northern Distillery in County Louth, then selected, finished and bottled independently by Micil of Galway. After maturing in ex-bourbon casks, 75.5% of the blend is finished in 225-litre Bordeaux red wine casks of French oak. The other 24.5% is finished in 125-litre American oak quarter casks that previously held peated whiskey. The two parts are married after nine months. The whiskey is not chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose offers sweet vanilla cream, spiced apple pie and red summer berries. On the palate come smoked, salted almonds and berry compote with plenty of baking spices. The finish grows spicier, with notes of toasted marzipan.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
