This is an 8 year old Miltonduff single malt from Speyside, in a 70cl bottle at 54.2% ABV. It comes from Claxton's, a family business that began releasing its own casks in 2015 and puts the balance between cask influence and spirit quality first. This bottling is a sherry-drenched Miltonduff from Warehouse 8.
The nose is reserved at first and benefits from plenty of air. It is surprisingly light, then builds to spices. The palate is chewy, with bittersweet mixed peel, liquorice, old leather and dry date cake, and a little water brings out dark chocolate. The finish is tangy.
