Moonbroch Spaceman Secret Highland (Peated) 2013 9 Year Old (70cl, 50.9%)

A nine-year-old Highland single malt, distilled in February 2013 and bottled in September 2022 at 50.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a hogshead that had previously held peated whisky. It shares an unpeated distillation run with a second Secret Highland cask from the same 2013 vintage, so the smoke here comes from the wood. The tasting notes describe firepit marshmallows on the nose, with the peat present but quiet. The palate is grassy and herbal with a little walnut, and the finish carries a mild tinned fruit syrup note.
