Mullineux & Leeu Kloof Street Chenin Blanc 2021 (75cl, 13%)

Kloof Street is a 2021 Chenin Blanc from Mullineux & Leeu in Swartland, South Africa, sold in a 75cl bottle. The grapes come from three vineyards: one more than 30 years old on shale and sedimentary rock, and two more than 40 years old on dry soils. The bunches are pressed whole and fermented with native yeasts for at least six weeks, 85% in stainless steel and 15% in used French barriques. Pale straw in colour, it smells of ripe pears. The palate shows vibrant acidity balanced by a soft, rounded texture, and the finish is fresh and mineral.
