Mullineux & Leeu Kloof Street Swartland Rouge 2020 (75cl, 14.5%)

Kloof Street Swartland Rouge 2020 is a South African red wine from Mullineux & Leeu in the Western Cape, in a 75cl bottle at 14.5% ABV. It is mostly Syrah, with Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Tinta Barocca and Mourvèdre. The grapes come from eight sustainably farmed vineyard plots aged between 12 and 40 years. Fermentation is with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, with 4 to 6 weeks of maceration, and the wine then completes malolactic fermentation and ages for 11 months in French oak. The nose shows spice mixed with dark berry fruit, followed by an easy, pleasant palate.
