Lennox Peat is a heavily peated 4 year old single malt from an undisclosed Highland distillery, released in Murray McDavid's 2022 Mystery Malt collection.
The spirit was matured first in bourbon hogsheads, then finished for three years in first-fill barriques: Tawny Port casks from Caves de Murça in the Douro Valley and Madeira casks from Justino's on the island of Madeira. Four casks were combined and bottled in 2022 at 46% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration. The outturn is 756 bottles.
Bold smoke is balanced by layers of fruit and gentle sweetness.
