Nagahama The Fifth Batch is a Japanese single malt bottled at 50% in a 50cl bottle, released about six months after the previous batch, in roughly 3,000 bottles. It was distilled in 2020 and aged for two years and eight months in Islay quarter casks and casks from the KOVAL distillery in the US, then matured for a further year in an Oloroso sherry hogshead.
Fresh orange and white peach lead the nose, with the sweetness of apricot candy. The palate brings honey cake and maple pancake sweetness with nutmeg and clove spice, and the finish is dry with sherry cask tannin that lingers.
