Natterjack Cask Strength Blend No. 1 is a triple-distilled Irish whiskey made at Great Northern Distillery from a mash of 20% malted barley and 80% maize. The whiskeys matured together in ex-bourbon casks, then received a finish in new American oak charred to level 4. It was bottled in 2023 at a cask strength of 63%, without chill-filtering.
The nose brings orange and buttery toffee with strong toasted oak and a touch of clove. The palate is smooth yet powerful, with orange, charred oak, malt, muscovado sugar and an earthy note from the wood. The finish is warming, with honeyed sweetness.
