Taketsuru 17 Year Old is a Nikka blended malt, a vatting of Yoichi and Miyagikyo single malts, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. A strong share of the whisky was aged in sherry oak, which gives it a notable richness.
In colour it is old gold with a copper shimmer. The nose is spicy and delicate, with fruit and chocolate leading to old leather, dried tobacco and dried fruit. The palate is rich and creamy, with preserved fruit, Morello cherry, toffee, mocha and hazelnut. The finish is long, with praline, charred wood and cigar smoke.
