Nikka Taketsuru 21 Year Old is a Japanese blended malt, a blend of single malts bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is described as round and rich.
The colour is old gold with a green shimmer. The nose is firm and lively, with almond paste, flowers, citrus and salt, developing into vanilla, new oak, menthol and fresh tobacco, with a pleasant bitterness from gentian. The palate is sweet, balanced and spicy, with praline, nuts, ripe and exotic fruit and vanilla. The finish is long and tender, with freshly cut grass, star anise, green liquorice, mocha and acacia honey, and the saltiness grows.
