Nikka From The Barrel is a Japanese blended whisky bottled at 51.4% ABV, without dilution, in a square 750ml bottle. It is made from more than 100 batches of malt and grain whisky from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries.
After blending, the whisky goes back into used barrels for several more months so the components can marry before bottling.
The nose is dried apricot and honey with clove, allspice, orange peel and a little butterscotch and poached pear. The palate is rich, with toffee, toasted oak, baking spices, ripe plum, ginger, chili warmth and a hint of smoke. The finish is long and warming, with black pepper, vanilla and charred wood.
