A 15-year-old Japanese single malt from the Yoichi distillery of Nikka, an official bottling at 45% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is elegant, opening on walnut cake and gingerbread, then vanilla, cinnamon, pollen and tobacco, with oak and fresh strawberries. The palate is creamy yet lively, with a smoky start, walnut liqueur, candy sugar and a slight mintiness, turning spicy with cloves and ginger.
The finish is long, with spices, bitter chocolate, a little salt and various nuts.
