This is a Japanese single malt whisky from Nikka's Yoichi distillery, finished in an ex-apple brandy cask. The release marks the 100th anniversary of the wedding of Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru and Rita Cowan, and the finish is meant to balance a mellow sweetness with deep peatiness.
On the nose there is sweet apple compote alongside malt. The palate brings a savoury sweetness like baked apple pie and fruit cask, and the finish closes with slight peat and lasting malt sweetness.
