Vega is a blended malt Scotch whisky from North Star Spirits, in a 70cl bottle at 51.1% ABV. It is made with whiskies aged for at least 23 years in Spanish and American oak casks, and carries a 1993 vintage.
The name comes from the star in the constellation Lyra. Only 400 bottles were produced.
The nose opens with bourbon-style caramel, light peat smoke and poached pear. The palate is robustly malty, with plenty of vanilla and treacle and a subtle touch of mineral smoke. The finish brings chilli chocolate and brandied cherries.
