Oban Little Bay is a single malt from the Oban distillery on the west coast of the Highlands, bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle. The name comes from the Gaelic for 'little bay'.
The whisky launched in 2015 and carries no age statement. It is matured in 200-litre casks, the smallest the distillery has, which give more contact with the wood than a standard cask.
On the nose it is oily, waxy and nutty, with ripe orchard fruit, almond fruit cake, cereal and orange. The palate is chewy like rich fruit bread, with orange zest and clove, turning drier with mint and green apple. The finish is long, syrupy at first, then drying, with dark chocolate tannins.
