Old Ballantruan The Peated Malt is a 10 year old single malt from Tomintoul Distillery in Speyside, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from the Ballantruan spring.
The malt is made from heavily peated barley and matured for ten years in oak casks. It is non-chill filtered, which is unusual for peat in Speyside.
The nose offers peat smoke, sweet malt, vanilla cream and gentle citrus. On the palate, strong peat smoke meets honeyed malt, toasted oak and light spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering smoke and sweet malt.
