Old Carter 12 Year Batch 3 is a straight American whiskey released in April 2020 by Mark and Sherri Carter. It was distilled in Indiana and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, at a barrel strength of 138.1 proof (69.05%), non-chill-filtered and uncut. The batch totals 2,487 bottles.
The 12 year age statement reflects the youngest barrels in the blend. Most of it is 15 year old whiskey, married with 12 and 13 year old barrels of the same recipe used for Old Carter 27 Year.
The nose brings creme brulee, root beer, red hots, caramel buttercream, candied bacon and burnt orange rind. On the palate are deep caramel, leather, tobacco, baking spice, dark chocolate and dense oak. The finish is long and warm, with toasted hazelnuts.
