Old Charter Oak is a twelve-year-old bourbon aged at Buffalo Trace Distillery in French oak barrels, bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
French oak has a tighter grain than American oak, which brings more subtle flavours and a silkier texture. The bourbon is a tribute to the oak, harvested from the forests of France and long used for ageing fine wine.
The nose is vanilla with hints of apricot, cherry and rose petal. The palate is thick and creamy, with maple syrup and oak coming through. The long finish brings chocolate and toasted oak.
